Dreams

We all start the new year making plans. Some people write them down, pin them on their closets or bathroom windows, so they can remind themselves of what they've decided to accomplish. Unless, you are someone who really have no expectations or just lost hope, though you should never lose it, you certainly want to get some steps ahead in some areas of your life by the end of this year.
On the other hand, some people may say they rather not make any plans because they don't want to be frustrated when not achieving them. But you know what?! Even when you do achieve them you may get frustrated, maybe disappointed would be a better word. Disappointed that it didn't make you feel as happy as you thought you would be when achieving that dream, either a small or big one.
The thing about dreaming, making plans and being successful is not about whether you will achieve it or not, but rather whether you will enjoy it or not. In order to enjoy something you are yet to accomplish, you first have to start by enjoying what you already have. Be grateful for where you are right now in your life. Do not compare yourself with others, but with the best that you can be. Knowing that God loves you and made you just as he intended. You are unique, with unique experiences.
Second, don't expect an easy journey. Many of us don't understand the hardships we go through. We leave our dreams at the bumps on the way. Or we simply focus so much on the pain we went through and forget about the day that God will wipe every tear from our eyes, and there will be no more death or sorrow or crying or pain. All these things will be gone forever. How many times have we asked ourselves "Why me?" But all things, and I mean all things, bad and good things, cooperate for the good of those who love God. The question is: Do you truly love Him?
We sometimes try so hard to achieve our goals that we forget about what is really important in life: to love God above all things and people as we love ourselves. When you love God above all your dreams and goals, He will not only help you get there, but He'll let you enjoy it. It's like having that delicious triple chocolate meltdown dessert forever. People are the most important thing on earth. Family, friends, buddies, acquaintances, strangers, all of them. To love God is to love them. In conclusion, all you and I can do to actually have true joy while on this earth, independent of what we have, is to repent from our selfishness and surrender our lives to God. What do you benefit if you gain the whole world but lose your own soul?
